Iowa & Nebraska

Today we set off for Iowa and Nebraska--got here and set up camp just after lunch and headed off to the Omaha Visitor center--we met Sister Brady who was such a great tour guide and so full of the spirit--we actually got to pull a handcart (but of course we have no idea how it really was for the Saints--we left there and drove back into Council Bluff , Iowa where the Kanesville Tabernacle is located and learned that this was where the First Presidency was re-established with Brigham Young, Heber C. Kimball, & Willard Richards named and sustained by the Saints--we also lerned about the men who were called into the Morman Battalion for the US Army and the promises and blessings that the Saints recieved from this service--tommorow we travel back into Omha for a trip to the zoo and later in the evening we have a Temple Endowment session--this trip thus far has been more that I could have ever expected it to be.....I have a very weak signal so I will post pictures tomorrow.

Reflection of History

This AM we went to the local Ward for Sacrament meeting and Sunday School (I miss my Primary kids!!!!)--then onto the Independence Visitors center where we met Sister Stanton who did an awesome job on the historical tour (we were in a great group of other visitors, very informative)--left there and changed into more comfortable clothes and drove up to Liberty Jail (this was awe inspiring, there is definitely a special spirit in this sacred place)--left there and drove up to Adam-ondi-Ahman which is so beautiful with the rich soil and fertile land--from there it was onto Far West Temple site (Frank is amazed that this was not destroyed upon the Saint's exodus of Missouri)--we met some wonderful people today at all the places that we visited--everyone is so interested in our trek west--as we were going back to the hotel we passed the Kansas City Royals & Chiefs stadiums--tomorrow we leave for Winter Quarters (staying in Council Bluff, Iowa)--we are so very blessed to have been able to make this trip.

All day drive...

We left around 7 this morning and as you can see we had a little issue with the camper (check out the pic)--as we were leaving we saw a deer who seemed to pose for us and a wild turkey--the ride through Kentucky was beautiful and the sight of the St. Louis Arch was amazing (not too bad a pic from a moving vehicle at 60mph--we were on the road about 11 hours to get into Independence Mo this evening--we are going to bed relatively early so we can get up and go to the local ward tomorrow...

More on Kentucky

If you get the chance to visit Mammoth Cave it is definately worth the time--how incredible it is what God can create (check out some of the pics)--the Temple trip to Louisville was so sweet and special--the Temple is in  the same parking lot as the meeting house (probably why we missed it on the 1st drive by)--it reminds a lot of the Columbia, SC Temple only smaller--the drive back to Mammoth Cave was very quiet (no radio) so we talked about the day and what we saw and experienced--we got back to the camp ground and went to bed early so that we can get up to leave for Missouri in the AM--the picture of the reciept and the tokens are for the 10 minute showers that we paid $2.00 a piece for (but well worth it)

Kentucky Days

We did not have access yesterday so this is a short blurp about how we are doing--last night was peaceful, today we toured part of Mammoth Cave (really worth the time) and are now sitting in a resturant blogging waiting for the Louisville, Kentucky Temple to open for the evening sessions--tomorrow when we get to Missouri we will blog some more about the past few days with lots of pics--we added a few today
